Santa brought one gift our daughter's first and second Christmases. Relatives all thought me a terrible person for not knowing for sure if I wanted to make Santa the BIGGEST part of CHRISTmas. I knew that I had one more Christmas to definately make up my mind. Our daughter was only 1 year and 3 months old that second Christmas, after all. Interestingly, the fictional characters just took on a life of their own in our children's hearts and minds. It is true that I put sparkles on my daughter's pillow (an idea from my dear friend Connie- and a good one, too. It was very charming) and left her notes from the tooth fairy, but I just couldn't help myself. It is fun. My son adores Santa Claus, and gets so excited about his coming. I have decided that when the dreaded question comes, I will answer honestly. I think when my kids are ready, they will ask me flat out, and I will give an honest answer. I have never liked the idea of lying to my kids about these things. Something interesting has happened this season, as well. My sister-in-law that gave me the most grief for even debating introducing Santa to my kids has admitted this year that she is tired of her kids saying "Mom, cost doesn't matter. Santa doesn't care about money!" In my defense:
